Hong Kong is hosting the ComplexCon pop culture festival this weekend - the first time it's been held outside the United States.
The three-day event started on Friday at the AsiaWorld-Expo, featuring concerts and a marketplace for trendy products.
Organisers said Hong Kong is an appropriate venue for the festival, and people should work together to bring world-class events to the city.
"Hong Kong has a long tradition of being up with the latest cultural trends. And as an international city, it's a very appropriate venue. This can attract people from all around the world to visit," the event's Hong Kong partner Stephen Wong said.
Lupe Fiasco, one of the headlining acts from Chicago, said it's the first time ComplexCon has been held outside the United States, and he thinks Hong Kong can hold the event again, building on this year's experience.
"I've gone to the ones in the States, so I want to see what the vibe's going to be here in Hong Kong. I want to see the different brands, see the different faces, see how different people put their outfits and their swag together," he told RTHK.
Another tourist from Estonia said he will come to Hong Kong again if the event returns next year.
"I think it's the perfect location for this. [Hong Kong] is a hub, it's where everybody's at and everybody wants to be, so I think it's the perfect spot for this. You better do it in Hong Kong again," he said.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, deputy financial secretary Michael Wong thanked organisers for choosing the SAR as the city to host the festival.
He said Hong Kong may be able to attract 50 million visitor arrivals this year, if more work is done.
"It looks like that things are keeping up, so that's a very good news for Hong Kong," he said.
