A fire broke out in a flat in Yu Tai Court in Tung Chung this morning, killing four cats and injuring three people.

Police received a report at around 6am from the homeowner about an accident while using a flame gun.

The 58-year-old woman suffered burns on her face and arms and was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital and later transferred to Queen Mary Hospital. She was in critical condition.

Two other women, aged 65 and 80, were sent to North Lantau Hospital with smoke inhalation. Firefighters rescued four cats inside the unit, but all were later confirmed dead.
