Workers at a construction site next to a building in Jordan that caught fire on Wednesday morning were among those who helped residents to safety.
The deadly blaze broke out just before 8am in New Lucky House on Nathan Road. Builders said they heard people shouting for help as they started their shift.
One of the workers, surnamed Man, said they used a ladder and a safety cage to help evacuate more than 10 residents.
"We didn't dare rush inside the building as we didn't know the situation, but we just wanted to help those in front of us," he told reporters.
"We know how long our ladder is, and we checked and thought it was long enough, so we helped them escape."
He said they were glad to help save lives, and he wasn't scared at the time because they were actually some distance from the fire.
