A digital system for invigilators of the ongoing university entrance exams suffered a glitch for the second day in a row on Friday.

Some invigilators said they could not log in to the "i-Invigilation" app during the English language paper of the Diploma of Secondary Education exams and had to check attendance records manually.

The Examinations and Assessment Authority said the exam still started on time.

It had apologised when the same problem happened during the Chinese language exam on Thursday, adding that the app did not function well when the system had to handle a large amount of data.

The honorary president of the Information Technology Federation, Francis Fong, said the authority should stop using the app for now, so that students don't worry their exams could be affected.

Fong questioned whether the authority had tested the app properly before putting it to use.

"You should test the system with 90,000 loads if there are going to be 45,000 users at the peak period, to ensure the system will be working alright," he told RTHK.

"If they didn't do the load testing or didn't have sufficient bandwidth, that's quite a big mistake."

RTHK has reached out to the exams authority for comment.
