Hong Kong stocks edged up at the opening on Monday, pushing gains into a tenth successive day, while mainland markets rallied as they returned from a long break to play catch-up with recent regional advances.
The Hang Seng Index added 0.07 percent, or 12.63 points, to 18,488.55.
The Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.89 percent, or 27.69 points, to 3,132.51, while the Shenzhen Composite Index rose 1.36 percent, or 23.91 points, to 1,779.99.
