Around 1,000 drones will light up the sky over Victoria Harbour this Saturday in the world's first Doraemon drone show.

The 15-minute show will feature characters from the popular Japanese cartoon series as well as Doraemon's gadgets, such as the Anywhere Door and the Take-Copter.

S K Lam from the event organiser, AllRightsReserved, told RTHK that Doraemon holds a special place in the hearts of people from different generations, as it's a character that brings back cherished childhood memories for many.

He said the drones will tell a story accompanied by the voices of Hong Kong's dubbing artists.

The drone show is a prelude to a larger Doraemon and Friends exhibition in July.
