The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) on Thursday confirmed that Kam Kee Catering Group has failed to settle around HK$3.1 million in MPF contributions and relevant surcharges.
The authority said the restaurant chain did not make MPF contributions for around 980 employees between February and March this year.
The MPFA on Wednesday filed a lawsuit in the High Court against the company, on behalf of affected employees.
The authority reminded employers that it is their legal responsibility to make MPF contributions on time.
The Labour Department, meanwhile, said it is handling claims of unpaid salaries and other legal matters from around 60 Kam Kee employees.
It called on other workers to get in touch if they have any queries or concerns.
