The Observatory said the strong wind signal No. 3 will be issued at 4.40pm.

A tropical depression over the northern part of the South China Sea is forecast to move north, edging closer to the western coast of Guangdong.

Officials also said while the tropical depression is expected to move across inland of western Guangdong, the associated rainbands will still affect Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, the amber rainstorm warning was issued at 3.30pm.
