Police have arrested three people in connection with the unlawful movement of a dead body outside a factory building in To Kwa Wan.

Officers said they received a report on Sunday that a man was drunk, lying unconscious outside Merit Industrial Centre.

The unconscious man was sent to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The deceased, 40, did not sustain any obvious injuries. An autopsy will be conducted to verify the cause of death.

At a press briefing on Monday, chief inspector Law Chin-hon said the three suspects, aged 35 to 40, allegedly moved the body to the scene with a trolley.

“The four people had been hanging out in a unit at the factory building in which someone had alcoholic drinks. Later on, the deceased felt uncomfortable and became unconscious. The other three men used a trolley to move him to the place where the report was made and then fled the scene,” he said.

Law said all four people involved were mainland-Chinese and came to Hong Kong through two-way permits.

He added that one of the suspects was found to have overstayed their visa and was also arrested on breach of condition of stay.
