Police on Sunday said they have arrested a taxi driver after his vehicle struck a woman, sending her plunging about five metres between streets in Central.

Officers said the 28-year-old woman suffered leg injuries after she was hit by the taxi on Lower Albert Road, sending her falling into Ice House Street.

The accident happened at around 10am.

Police added that the 44-year-old driver is suspected of causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving.
