Respiratory health expert David Hui on Saturday said Hong Kong may have to use different flu jabs if the flu season continues until the end of the year.

Speaking on a radio programme, Professor Hui said many people had been vaccinated so outbreaks have not been large in scale.

But he said the SAR may also need to import vaccines from the Southern Hemisphere, where it is currently winter and the main flu season.

"If small-scale outbreaks continue - from the beginning of the year until the end - we'll have to import southern hemisphere vaccines in the second quarter of the year, and import northern hemisphere vaccines in the fourth quarter," he said.

Hui added that people who had not been vaccinated during winter, could still get their vaccines now.
