Police on Saturday arrested a man on suspicion of murdering his girlfriend at a Fanling flat on Saturday.

Officers say the 59-year-old suspect called the police at 5.23 pm on Saturday to report that a woman was unresponsive at a flat in Wah Min House on Wah Sum Estate.

Paramedics arrived ten minutes later and declared the woman dead at the scene.

Tai Po assistant commander Brian Chung said the woman had sustained multiple bruises and arrested the man on the spot.

A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death, he added, and investigations are continuing.
