The government has announced the postponement of a joint co-operation conference between Hong Kong and Guangdong.

The one-day meeting, which Chief Executive John Lee was expected to attend in Guangzhou, was originally scheduled to take place on Thursday.

"The 24th Plenary of the Hong Kong/Guangdong Co-operation Joint Conference originally scheduled to take place in Guangzhou today (June 27) will be postponed to July as agreed by both the Guangdong and Hong Kong sides. The official date will be announced in due course," a government statement read.

No reason was given for the postponement.

Lee was planning to lead a government delegation to the mainland city and co-chair the plenary with the governor of Guangdong, Wang Weizhong, to discuss enhanced co-operation in areas such as innovation and technology, finance, healthcare, cross-boundary transport and trade.
