Police on Saturday arrested a 31-year-old mother on suspicion of ill-treatment or neglect of a child, after a two-year-old girl was allegedly abandoned at a children's playground in Mong Kok.

Officers received a report at around 7pm on Friday that a girl was wandering around the children's playground on Sai Yee Street.

The girl, who had no identity document, had no apparent injuries and was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital for observation.

The mother has been detained for further investigation.
