The Tourism Board on Wednesday said the Hong Kong Cyclothon will be revamped this year, with new routes and a sports-themed carnival being introduced.
The city's largest cycling event will return on October 13.
The 50-kilometre race will go through the Sha Tin Heights Tunnel, while the 32-kilometre event will cross Ting Kau Bridge for the first time.
Both races will start in Tsim Sha Tsui and end at the Jordan Road Flyover.
Raymond Chan, the board's general manager of event and product development, said a carnival will be held in the West Kowloon Cultural District.
"It's actually very important for us to add more different elements to our Hong Kong Cyclothon," he said.
"I think for a lot of cyclists, after they finish their 50-kilometre or 32-kilometre [race], it will be actually good for them to have some relaxing experiences, either a dance class, yoga class or stretching class. It's a good hangout place for them."
Registration for the cyclothon opens at 10am on August 16.
The board said it will accept more than 6,000 registrations in total this year – 800 more than last year.
