Hong Kong stocks on Wednesday dropped at the open, mirroring a halt in Wall Street’s rally as investors’ risk appetite cooled ahead of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s Jackson Hole speech, later this week.
The Hang Seng Index fell 197 points, or 1.13 percent, to open at 17,313.
The Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.27 percent to open at 2,858, while the Shenzhen Component Index opened 0.38 percent lower at 8,221. (Xinhua/Agencies)
