The president of Macau's Court of Final Appeal, Sam Hou-fai, has resigned from his position.
The 62-year-old revealed last week he was considering to run for chief executive.
Chief Executive Ho Iat-seng announced on Monday that Sam would leave his roles as president and judge of the city's top court, as well as a member of the Independent Commission on the Recommendation of Judges starting Wednesday, as per Sam's request.
Ho said last Wednesday he would not seek a second term as CE due to health reasons.
The nomination period for chief executive candidates will start on Thursday, and the SAR will elect its new leader on October 13.
