Chinese University on Monday appointed Kenneth Chen as a vice-president.

The former secretary general of the Legislative Council Secretariat will begin a three-year term on September 16.

Chen will be responsible for administering infrastructure development according to the university's strategic vision and will also oversee administrative resources and operations to support the institution's academic, teaching and research activities.

"I have gained a deep appreciation of the importance of good institutional governance and effective management teamwork from my previous roles," Chen said in a press release.

"I am confident that these experiences will guide me as I work closely with members of the university in the common goal of furthering the development of this renowned educational institution."

The search committee for the position unanimously recommended Chen to the university's council.

Chen left Legco this month after working there for 12 years.
