The president of Macau's Court of Final Appeal, Sam Hou-fai, will meet the press tomorrow to formally declare his bid to become the SAR's top leader.
Tuesday marked his last day as head and member of the top court of the casino hub, as well as a member of the Independent Commission on the Recommendation of Judges.
The current Chief Executive Ho Iat-seng removed Sam from his duties, as per his request, with the removal order taking effect on Wednesday.
Sam had earlier expressed his interest in running to become Macau's next chief executive.
Meanwhile, Ho announced last Wednesday that he would not run for a second term due to health reasons.
The nomination period for candidates begins on Thursday, with the election to be held on October 13.
