The Court of Appeal on Wednesday ordered a retrial in the case of a man cleared of involvement in a mob attack in and around Yuen Long MTR Station in July 2019.
The Department of Justice had earlier appealed against the District Court's decision to acquit Wong Chi-wing on charges of rioting and wounding.
The higher court accepted that appeal and remitted the case to the District Court for retrial.
Wong was released on bail ahead of an expected court appearance on October 15.
Four others – Tang Wai-sum, Ng Wai-nam, Tang Ying-bun and Choi Lap-ki – were earlier jailed for between three and seven years on the same charges.
Choi's conviction was later quashed on appeal, while the other three lost challenges against their convictions.
