The national security police said on Saturday that they had arrested two people on suspicion of "doing with a seditious intention an act or acts that had a seditious intention" in relation to a suicide.

A 41-year-old male suspect had allegedly put memorial light boxes in various places, while a 28-year-old woman is suspected of publishing falsified last words of the deceased.

The force said the contents provoked hatred towards the central authorities and the SAR government.

Officers holding a court warrant searched the duo's homes in Kowloon and the New Territories yesterday.

They seized light boxes, materials for making the boxes and electronic communication devices.

The arrestees were detained for investigation.
