Chief Executive John Lee and SAR officials on Tuesday attended a ceremony to commemorate Victory Day of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

Writing on social media, Lee said he and his government paid tribute to those who gave their lives in the war, and expressed deep sorrow for the deaths of the victims.

He said their sacrifice and dedication created an environment of peace and prosperity.

Lee added that the war was an historical event that Chinese people could not forget.
