The Observatory said it would issue the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 on Wednesday night, as Yagi intensifies into a severe typhoon.

The forecaster said the signal will be raised at 6.40pm, as Yagi edges closer to the western part of the south China coast.

The weather forecaster will assess the need to issue higher signals between tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night depending on the movement and intensity of Yagi.

The Observatory also said there would be swells and that people should stay away from the shoreline and avoid doing water sports.
