A group of local activists protested outside Japan's Consulate-General in Central on Wednesday on the 93rd anniversary of the 918 Incident.

Members of the Action Committee for Defending the Diaoyu Islands staged the rally outside Exchange Square that houses the consulate.

They carried a banner that read "Don't Forget the 918 Incident" and chanted slogans denouncing Japanese militarism.

Police were there to maintain order.

The group later dispersed peacefully.
