As the People's Republic of China celebrates the 75th anniversary of its founding, it's time to look at its achievements as well as its future directions.

Reform and opening up has transformed the country and its economy, drastically improving people's lives and contributing to global development.

At the third plenum of the Communist Party in July, a resolution was adopted on further deepening reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernisation, with the goal of building a high-standard socialist market economy by 2035.

As part of a special series making the 75th anniversary and the launch of our new podcast "China Perspectives", we take a look at how the growth of a popular restaurant chain over the past quarter of a century epitomised the China economic miracle.
