Beijing's top official in charge of SAR affairs has given his "full recognition" of the work of Chief Executive John Lee and his administration on Friday.

Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office director Xia Baolong met Lee and Financial Secretary Paul Chan in the capital on the sidelines of two events promoting economic cooperation between the two cities.

"The SAR administration has resolutely implemented the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important speech … boosted economic growth and tackled social issues," a statement from the office read.

Xia said the central government will continue to support Hong Kong in utilising its advantages through one country, two systems, and ensure the SAR contribute to the nation's deepening reform.

"I hope people across Hong Kong, especially those from the industrial and business sectors, can unite and turn their patriotic passion into pragmatic action," the director added.
