Six people were killed and seven others injured in Hunan province after a car crashed into several vehicles travelling in the opposite direction on a bridge.

Local authorities said the car went out of control after it was rear-ended by a taxi on Lusong Bridge in the city of Zhuzhou shortly after 7.30am on Monday.

Footage on social media showed a white van rushing into oncoming traffic and barrelling through vehicles. The footage also showed debris scattered across the road as ambulances arrived at the scene.

The cause of the accident was being investigated. (Xinhua and agencies)
