The Hospital Authority said police arrested two Yan Chai Hospital staff members on Saturday morning in connection with an incident four months ago, in which a four-year-old girl had a cardiac arrest.

The girl had been receiving stitches at the hospital for a gash to her head and her heart stopped for 18 minutes.

In a statement, the Hospital Authority said the two Yan Chai Hospital staff members involved in the suturing procedure had also been suspended from their duties.

It said the authority would cooperate with the police investigation and that it would refrain from making further comments due to ongoing legal proceedings.

The authority also said the four-year-old girl remains in critical condition at Princess Margaret Hospital, where she was transferred shortly after the incident.

The Health Bureau says it is highly concerned about the incident.
