Development Secretary Bernadette Linn on Friday said the government would put up two plots of land for tender this quarter, which are a residential site in Tai Wai and an industrial site in Hung Shui Kiu near Tin Shui Wai.
The residential site on Mei Tin Road in Tai Wai is expected to provide around 360 flats.
Linn said the MTR Corporation would tender its Tung Chung East Station project again but on half the scale of the first tender last October, providing around 600 flats.
"The total private housing land supply in the third quarter will support the development of around 2,200 flats," she said.
"Together with the supply from the first two quarters, the total supply for the first three quarters of this financial year is expected to support some 6,470 flats, which is close to 50 percent of our annual supply target."
Linn added that officials would roll out a site in Hung Shui Kiu for the development of multi-storey buildings and there would be a longer tender period.
A "two-envelope" approach would be adopted for the site - where tenderers are required to submit the non-price and price information in separate envelopes.
Asked why the government would not put up any commercial site on sale, Linn said authorities made the decision after considering the current market sentiment and high vacancy rates for commercial sites.
