President Xi Jinping will attend the 16th Brics Summit in Kazan, Russia, from October 22 to 24 at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Vice Foreign Minister Hua Chunying announced on Friday.

Brics, originally comprising Brazil, Russia, India, and China, has expanded to include South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates.

Saudi Arabia has been invited to join Brics but has not yet formally done so.
