Police on Thursday said they arrested 14 men on suspicion of illegal road racing.
Officers said the races allegedly took place over the past two months on main roads, including Route Twisk, Tuen Mun Road, and Tolo Highway.
They arrested people aged between 20 and 33 years old, with some claiming to be teachers, nurses and professional drivers.
Police made the arrests between Monday and Friday last week, seizing 14 private vehicles.
Speaking at a press briefing, chief inspector Ng Hing-cheong criticised people who engaged in illegal street racing, saying it will endanger other drivers.
"Some of the vehicles involved raced back and forth at high speeds on the narrow and winding section of Route Twisk. They reached a speed of up to 135 kilometres per hour in a section with a speed limit of 50 kilometres per hour. They often crossed the double white lines to chase each other," he said.
Ng added that the operation against illegal street racing is still underway.
