About 2,500 people on Friday attended a job fair, where about 70 companies are looking for top talents in Hong Kong.
The fair – the second recruitment event that the Hong Kong Top Talent Services Association has held this year – is offering over 1,500 jobs.
The association’s founder Shang Hailong pointed out that this edition of the fair is “totally different” in terms of its reach.
“Today, this job fair is totally different. We cooperated with the Hong Kong Talent Engage Office, we cooperated with Oases (Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises)…Different committees joined this job fair, that’s a big difference.”
Shang added that more than 4,000 people had signed up for the event.
Property giant Sun Hung Kai Properties was one of the companies offering jobs at the fair.
Bonnie Soo, Assistant Manager of Human Resources revealed that the group is targetting candidates from the mainland.
"The businesses of Sun Hung Kai Properties are not just in Hong Kong – we have a lot of property projects on the mainland. We recruit people from the mainland to understand more about the customers there – what they need and what they want."
One jobseeker from the mainland, Scarlett Chen, said she hopes to find a better job at the fair.
“On the mainland, for example for the IT industry, there is an age limit. And in recent years, the economic situation wasn’t good, [so] there are no promotion prospects or wage increases.”
