Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun said on Thursday that the government cannot make the lives of carers better on its own and all sectors must work together to support them.

Sun said he is pleased to see that various NGOs have already cooperated with the Social Welfare Department to help carers.

He added that carers who need help should not hesitate to phone the government's 182 183 hotline.

"The person answering the call doesn't only chat with you to calm you," Sun said at an event.

"If you are looking for temporary short-term care, the hotline will arrange it for you. If it's a very urgent situation, there will also be social workers rushing to help you."
