Foreign Minister Wang Yi said anti-subsidy tariffs imposed by the European Union on Chinese electric vehicles violated the principles of fair competition and free trade during talks with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock in Beijing on Monday.
China urged Germany and Europe to view its development objectively and rationally, adopt an active and pragmatic policy towards China, and properly handle trade disputes through dialogue and consultation, according to Xinhua News Agency.
Baerbock, for her part, said Germany supports the continuation of negotiations between China and the EU to try to find a mutually acceptable solution.
On China-Germany ties, Wang said Beijing has always regarded Berlin as an important partner, and that differences between the two countries should not become obstacles to cooperation or lead to confrontation.
The foreign minister added that their relationship does not target any third party, and should not be subject to influence by any third party. (Reporting by Xinhua)
