A driver involved in a fatal crash in Jordan was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death, police said on Monday, after one person was killed and two other pedestrians were injured when the car he was driving mounted a pavement in Jordan.
Officers said they were notified at around 10am of the incident near Luen Tak Building on Jordan Road.
The vehicle was reportedly travelling westbound on the road before ploughing into pedestrians.
"When approaching the junction of Jordan Road and Shanghai Street, the private car reportedly went out of control and knocked down three pedestrians after running onto the pavement," a police statement read.
The three were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
One of them, an elderly person who was found unconscious, was pronounced dead after sustaining multiple serious injuries.
The driver, 42, reported feeling unwell and was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital, officers added.
Police have classified the crash as a fatal traffic accident.
The Transport Department said the accident resulted in a stretch of Jordan Road to be closed to traffic.
