Police said they are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tai Po on Monday, in which a pedestrian was killed.

At about 6pm, a coach was travelling along Kwong Wang Street towards Kwong Fuk Estate, when it reportedly hit a 65-year-old man while approaching a bus stop.

The pedestrian sustained chest injuries and was sent to Prince of Wales Hospital in a conscious state, but was certified dead at about 7.30pm.

Police said the force of the impact caused the man to knock over another pedestrian - a 67-year-old woman - who sustained limb injuries.

She was sent to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital in a conscious state.

The 66-year-old coach driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death and remains in custody.
