Chief Executive John Lee on Saturday visited residents in Oi Man Estate ahead of the Lunar New Year.

Lee greeted those who came out to see him at the housing estate in Ho Man Tin, and shook hands with members of the public.

"I'm also here to have a look at the operation of shops. I bought these turnip cakes. I love them and I will share them with my wife. I heard from the shops that business has been good, meeting their expectations," he said.

Earlier in the day, Lee visited the community living room in Hung Hom, and had a meal with people there.

Lee was accompanied by the Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Alice Mak, who pointed out that care teams have an important role to play when it comes to assisting residents.

"The chief executive visited the residents with a care team, and learnt about how they provide services to people in the community. We did a year-end clean-up and home repairs for the elderly," Mak said.

She added government officials will continue to visit residents, including elderly people, grassroots families and ethnic minorities, at different districts before the Lunar New Year.

An 88-year-old resident said she was happy that she was able to shake hands with the Chief Executive and that people have high expectations of him.
