Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law said the government would conduct a strategic review of the use of the city's performance venues.

Law expected this would be completed by the end of the year.

In an interview with Ta Kung Pao published on Monday, Law said Hong Kong would have more venues to stage more kinds of performances and sports events.

These include the Kai Tak Sports Park, and the WestK Performing Arts Centre that is set to be completed next year.

The Airport Authority also recently announced that it would build the second phase of the AsiaWorld-Expo to expand the total exhibition space to 100,000 square metres.

The project is set for completion in 2028.

“This venue has a favourable location, [it’s] near the airport, and [it’s also] convenient for Zhuhai and Macau travellers to head to. I have high hopes [for the venue],” Law said.

With more venues, she said the SAR would be able to stage more events.

“If there is a better allocation, world-class venues can carry out more world-class performances.”

In another interview with Wen Wei Po, the minister stressed the city has to focus on both quality and quantity for tourism development.
