President Xi Jinping on Saturday ordered all-out search and rescue efforts to minimise casualties, after a landslide buried 10 houses and left more than 30 people unaccounted for in Sichuan Province.

The authorities in Sichuan Province upgraded the geological disaster emergency response from Level III to Level I – the highest level.

The landslide took place shortly before midday in Jinping Village in Junlian County.

Two people were rescued in the afternoon, and rescue efforts are ongoing. (Xinhua)
