Hong Kong stocks soared past 23,000 in Tuesday morning trade, as investors cheered a meeting between President Xi Jinping and business leaders in Beijing the day before.
The Hang Seng Index had opened higher, rising 0.21 percent at 22,664, before eclipsing the 23,000-mark for the first time in more than four months.
By midday, the index put on 464 points, or more than 2 percent, at 23,080.
Tech shares also did well, standing near three-year highs.
Markets in China were buoyed by the meeting where Xi called for efforts to promote the healthy and high-quality development of the country's private sector. (Additional reporting by Reuters)
