Snooker legends Judd Trump and Ronnie O'Sullivan said they are very excited to play in their first tournament in Hong Kong since becoming SAR residents.

The World Snooker Grand Prix 2025 will be held in the Kai Tak Arena on March 8 and 9.

World number one Trump is set to face Gary Wilson of England, while O'Sullivan will take on Si Jiahui from China.

Both Trump and O'Sullivan obtained their Hong Kong residency through the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme last year.

"For me, it is more motivating to come back here because I feel like now that I'm here, and I feel like the people in Hong Kong can really get behind me and have someone to really support," Trump said.

"I think when you have somebody that is trying to represent Hong Kong, which I am now. I think the people can kind of see that. I hope that comes off in the way that I'm able to carry myself and give everybody full respect. I hope to make Hong Kong proud and be the first winner of this tournament."

O'Sullivan, a seven-time World champion, said he is ready and looks forward to play in Hong Kong.

Vincent Law, chairman of the Billiard Sports Council of Hong Kong China, said efforts are underway to make sure the event is being held successfully at the brand new venue.

"We also hope the spectators will understand if something don't go right on the first day, we guarantee that we will try to our best to fix problems to make sure the tournament will run smoothly."

Exhibition matches will also take place during the two-day event.

Hong Kong's top player, Marco Fu, will face off the legendary "Whirlwind" Jimmy White on March 8.

The SAR's Ng On-yee, meanwhile, takes on world number 1 Mink Nutcharut from Thailand the following day.
