Customs have arrested an inbound traveller at the airport for allegedly smuggling cannabis buds into Hong Kong.
The 47-year-old man arrived at the SAR on Saturday on a flight from Bangkok.
He was subsequently stopped at customs clearance, when officers said they found around 10kg of suspected cannabis buds in his suitcase.
The suspected drugs are worth HK$2.2 million in market value.
An investigation is still ongoing.
Customs also reminded the public that drug trafficking is a serious offence, and offenders upon conviction face a maximum fine of HK$5 million and life imprisonment.
