More than 1,000 spectators watched the inaugural Hong Kong Sevens match played at the new venue at 10:30am.

The atmosphere was electric, with applause and cheers filling the stadium, and many said they liked what they saw.
A Canadian fan said she was excited to watch the tournament in Kai Tak and that it was easy getting to the stadium.
Another rugby fan also said it is now comfortable to watch the matches because there is air conditioning.

Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law watched the morning match and said the vibes were “pretty good”.
Law said she believed that more people will come to the stadium later as about 130,000 tickets were sold.
Kai Tak Sports Park director of strategic planning, Tang King-shing, meanwhile, said the spectator flow was smooth with frequent MTR train services.
He also said rugby fans will find it easy to get to the stadium.
