The English Schools Foundation (ESF) on Tuesday proposed to raise tuition fees by an average of 4.8 percent in the coming academic year.
Parents will have to pay about HK$650 to HK$750 more per month, depending on the grade their children are in.
The international school group said the proposed increase is linked to continued uncertainty in the Hong Kong economy.
“We know that the Hong Kong economy, like that of the world more generally, continues to face uncertainties,” ESF's chief executive Belinda Greer said in a statement.
“We honour that trust by controlling our costs and making sure that every dollar, every cent is spent for the benefit of our students and their futures.”
She added that the group has taken into consideration the question of affordability while making sure that teaching quality will not be affected.
