Police have arrested two people after busting a cannabis production facility in Ta Kwu Ling.

Cannabis plants and buds worth HK$5 million were seized in a raid on Monday at a three-storey house in Ping Yeung village.

Officers said they found the cannabis spread across five rooms on the first and second floors.

"At the same time, we also found that each room was installed with equipment which enhanced the cultivation of cannabis. These included powerful sun lamps, light-blocking cloths, insulation cotton and fertilisers," said inspector Ng Ka-wai.

He said the plants were able to produce up to 90kg of cannabis buds per year, with a street value of HK$20 million.

A 43-year-old woman was detained at the scene on suspicion of cultivating cannabis plants and trafficking in dangerous drugs.

A 42-year-old man was arrested in Yuen Long the same day on the same charges.

The pair are due to appear before a magistrate in Fanling on Wednesday.
