Chief Executive John Lee on Sunday said the government attaches great importance to coping with extreme weather.
Lee, together with Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak, earlier visited Tai O, ahead of the rain and tropical cyclone season.
Writing on social media, Lee said he and his team inspected the area and got to know more about the preparations for flood prevention.
The chief executive said he visited elderly people living in stilt houses, and they reflected that district councillors and care teams had helped them with preparation work.
He said the authorities are committed to mitigating the impact of extreme weather on the city, with the top priority being to ensure the safety of residents.
