The Hang Seng Index gained 517 points, or 2.4 percent, to open at 22,080 points on Wednesday.
The Hang Seng Tech Index, which represents 30 largest technology companies listed in Hong Kong, opened 3.5 percent higher.
Mainland stocks also opened higher with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.25 percent to 3,308 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index opened 0.87 percent higher at 9,956 points.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, was up 1.14 percent to open at 1,950 points.
The ChiNext Index, together with the Shenzhen Component Index and other indices, reflects the performance of stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. (Xinhua)
