The nation's senior leaders on Friday vowed to stabilise the domestic economy with "fully prepared emergency plans" to ward off drastically evolving external uncertainties, as tariff tensions between Beijing and Washington persist.
The comments came as the top decision-making body, the Politburo, held a meeting to analyse the current economic situation, during which authorities stressed the need to be prepared for worst-case scenarios, Xinhua news agency reported.
The meeting, chaired by President Xi Jinping, noted that the nation will "coordinate domestic economic work with international trade conflicts, resolutely focus on its domestic affairs, firmly expand opening up, and stabilise employment, businesses, markets, as well as expectations".
Policymakers also pledged to set up new monetary tools and policy financing instruments to boost technology, consumption, and trade, free up more cash for banks "when needed", and carefully "select the timing" for interest rate cuts.
They also said there is a need to improve the wages of low- and middle-income groups to boost services consumption.
More financing support will be given to enterprises that are "facing difficulties", the statement added.
The meeting came a day after Beijing dismissed claims from the US that there were talks on reaching a trade deal.
US President Donald Trump, meanwhile, still claims trade negotiations between the two countries are underway.
