Senior assistant police commissioner Keith Yip was on Monday named deputy commissioner of police (operations), succeeding Joe Chow who was recently appointed as police chief.
Yip, who joined the force as an inspector in 1991, served predominantly in criminal investigation with roles in criminal intelligence, serious and organised crime investigation, as well as policy-making.
He was promoted to senior superintendent in 2014 and chief superintendent in 2017.
In 2020, he was appointed assistant police commissioner and took charge of the Crime Wing.
Two years later, he became director of crime and security upon promotion to senior assistant commissioner.
