The government has named five new members to the city's equality watchdog for a fresh two-year term starting this month.
Among the new Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) appointments announced on Friday are executive councillor Eliza Chan, lawmaker Peter Koon and district council member Aruna Gurung.
The other two are a doctor, Lui Wai-cheung, and a lawyer, Symon Wong.
They replace five outgoing members, among who are legislator Vincent Cheng and district councillor Rizwan Ullah, on May 20.
Nine other incumbent members will continue to serve.
"The membership of the EOC represents a variety of expertise and sectors, including women; persons with disabilities; ethnic minorities; members from the employment, social services, legal, accounting, academic and education sectors; and the community at large," a government spokesperson said.
"Their experience and expertise are instrumental to the work of the EOC in promoting equal opportunities."
